Open Competition for Student Artists

Philadelphia college art students – get involved!

Philadelphia Sculptors is inviting Philadelphia art students to participate in “Moore Global Warming,” an exhibition at Moore College of Art and Design held in conjunction with our international “Global Warming at the Icebox” show from October 1 – 18, 2008. Current students and recent graduates from Moore College of Art and Design, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Tyler School of Art, The University of the Arts, and the University of Pennsylvania are eligible to apply. Both 2-D and 3-D works in any media are eligible. “Best in Show” will receive a cash award.

Artworks must address the theme of climate change. Artists are highly encouraged to take creative approaches to the topic. Artists may expand their areas of inquiry to include sociological, psychological, political, philosophical, cultural, economic, and medical concerns, as well as scientific ones. Artworks which suggest ways of positively transforming the environment or providing creative solutions to any of the problems created by global warming are especially encouraged. Artists may take a personal, local, or global approach to the theme.

Submission Deadline (Postmark): June 15, 2008
