Binod Shrestha

Artist Statement
Sleeping under and gazing at the clear sky in the hot summer night, we were fascinated by the twinkling of the stars. Occasionally, a shooting star would brighten up the sky. We used to wonder if we, also, could vanish in the thin air- all we could see, in our mind, was a faint trail left behind by the shooting star.

My work explores the possibilities of effect of myth, memory and metaphor-3Ms, on the body. It is also probing on politics and its socio-politic and metaphysical implication on the body.

The body is aware of our existence; we do not appreciate its responses-excavation of memory, inquiring the identity, conscious of dislocation. It is microcosm of civilization, of systems within the systems. I want to open a door, shut a door. I want my work to be a grain of sand in the oyster shell of mind.
