Artist Statement
My work explores issues relating to space,
location and events. The interactions of that space and how it is articulated
occupies a seminal position within the work. In common with the ideas
that drive the work, I feel free to use combinations of made objects and
constructed space, alongside other elements that I have chosen to include
and maybe alter.
In the construction of these works I draw on a wide variety of seemingly
disparate histories and technologies ancient and modern and freely associate
them, standing them side by side thus enabling interaction and comparative
linking. It becomes a celebration of moments historical and contemporary.
Referenced in the work are indications and clues to the worlds of Alchemy
and Architecture and the idea of making special fragments of time. The
work is heavily infused with ideas surrounding scientific discovery logic
and memory.
The pieces are intended to function like frozen snapshots of events leaving
the viewer to discover and at times imagine the next sequence of consequence.
